The Ahava Bereavement Story

Ahava Bereavement was started by Grace Feldman, a resident of Montgomery County and active member at Washington Hebrew Congregation. While growing up and as a young adult she attended services at Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox synagogues, leaving her with a deep appreciation for the various ways Jewish rituals are practiced.

The idea for Ahava Bereavement roots from her lived experience being a three-time survivor of grief in her immediate and close family. Between 2015 and 2022, she lost both her parents and infant nephew, who was born prematurely. In each instance, the funeral and shiva arrangements fell on her shoulders. She realized there is a need to delegate those administrative tasks to someone else who isn’t connected to the loss.

Grace is a proud wife and mother to a boy and girl, ages 3 and 4. In her “day job” she is a public health and healthcare strategy leader, improving healthcare quality and access to care.
